Background Of Minorities In Islamic Republic of Pakistan

The Provisional Minister for Minorities will review laws and policies concerning minorities as well as help shall investigate allegations of discrimination and abuse against religious minorities and shall ensure its redressed in letter & Spirit.

The Hindus in Pakistan are well educated and active in Business & Agriculture & also contribute in GDP of the Country. Hindus & other Minorities living abroad contribute sending foreign exchange to Province of Sindh.

With a population estimated over 190 million, the IskmicTlepublic of Pakistan is the sixth most populous country in the world and the second most populous country with a Muslim majority.

Approximately 94 percent of the population professes to be Muslim — of this 74 percent are Sunni and 20 percent are Shia. The remaining Six percent includes Hindus, Christians, Ahmadis and others.

Since 2008, the Government of Sindh has taken positive steps towards ensuring religious freedom and tolerance, including the official celebration of the festivals of 10 religious minorities, the introduction of a five percent quota in federal employment for members of religious minorities and the establishment of a 24-hour hotline to report acts of violence against religious groups.

Although the principles of religious freedom and equal rights for all, irrespective of caste or creed, were endorsed by the founding father of Nation and that is also cordial principal of Islam.
